English Language Pathway to St. Clair College
As an alternative to IELTS or TOEFL, completion of our English Pathway program lets you meet St. Clair College’s English Language Proficiency requirements. This means that you can complete our Pathway program and it provides you with direct entry to the college, without having to take IELTS.
This program is offered fully online, so you can study anywhere in the world. You can remain in your country as you complete our program. Our courses are offered at three levels of complexity in English (EAP Level 1, Level 2, and Level 3). You will be placed in the course based on your current English level. When you complete our Level 3 course, you will have fulfilled the language entry requirement for St. Clair College.
Each course is 110 hours of course work in length. Each course is accessed online and is delivered asynchronously using engaging video lessons. All tests and assignments are also completed online with your computer.
You can enroll and start any time since enrollment is on a continuous basis. You will work through the course content at your own pace and can retake lessons if needed. You can study part-time or full-time, finish the program as fast or as slow as you like.
Help is never far away. You can aso meet our teachers face-to-face during office hours via video conferencing software. When you have questions, you can ask any time via our learning platform’s built-in messaging feature.
Admissions and Tuition
To be admitted into this program, you must have an English proficiency level of IELTS 4.0 equivalent or above. All new students will be given an interview and a placement test to determine their level of English. Students meeting our minimum English proficiency requirement will be placed in our EAP Level 1 course. Students who have demonstrated a good or advanced level of English proficiency may be placed in the EAP Level 2 or Level 3 courses, respectively.
Students who have a recent IELTS, Duolingo, or TOFEL result will be directly placed in the appropriate EAP course based on the following equivalencies:
- IELTS 4.0 and 4.5 equivalent → EAP Level 1
- IELTS 5.0 and equivalent → EAP Level 2
- IELTS 5.5 and equivalent → EAP Level 3
Students not meeting our minimum requirements and who are still at the beginner level of English can join our ESL programs to improve their English to the level needed for the EAP Level 1 course.
Tuition is $1100 CAD/course.
